Eidgah

History
In the first decade of 1700, Farhad Khan, then Fauzdar of Sylhet, built it under his personal initiative, supervision and supervision. Every year on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, two huge Eid congregations are held here and about one and a half to two lakh Muslims offer Eid prayers here. Note that this place in Sylhet city is attractive and memorable to people for various reasons.In 1772, the first anti-British Indo-Bengali nationalist movement was started on this Eidgah ground by Syed Hadi and Madi. In the past it was the place of big gatherings of Sylhet. Leaders of anti-British movement like Mahatma Gandhi, Quaid Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Maulana Muhammad Ali, Hussain Shaheed Suhrawardy and Sher Bangla Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque came here and called for anti-British mass movement. That is why this place has a lot of historical importance.
Circumumbulation
This traditional Shahi Eidgah of Sylhet is located on a high hill. The main floor has 22 grand staircases with elaborate craftsmanship. Stepping up the stairs, one can see the Eidgah with 15 domes. Eidgah walls are surrounded by 10 small and big gates. There is a big pond in front of the Eidgah for the worshipers. Shahi to the north of Eidgah Eidgah Mosque, Forest Officer's bungalow on a high hill next to it, Sylhet Center of Bangladesh Television to the south, Sylhet Meteorological Office on the hill next to the shrine of Shah Mirarji (RA), one of the traveling companions of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA).
